The Fohen Modena is a digital “instant boiling water tap” — it supplies near-boiling water on demand, as well as standard hot and cold water from the same spout.
It also includes a carbon & phosphate filter to treat the mains water before it enters the boiler unit.

💧 Why does the tap have a filter — what does it do?

The built-in filter reduces chemicals, mineral deposits and impurities in your mains supply before the water reaches the boiler. This helps prevent limescale build-up in the boiler and internal parts.
Cleaner, filtered water helps protect the system and prolongs its lifespan, while keeping water taste and quality better.

How often should I change the filter?

If you live in a soft water area — replace the filter every 6 months.
If you live in a hard water area — replace the filter every 3 months to keep the boiler protected from limescale buildup.
Many users note that failure to change the filter as recommended can lead to reduced performance (slow flow, limescale) — and may affect warranty.

🔧 How do I replace the filter?

Turn off the cold mains water isolation valve.
Switch off the boiler’s power supply.
Unscrew and remove the old filter cartridge — some water may drip; place a bowl under to catch it.
Insert the new filter (wet the connector seals if recommended), screw the housing back in.
Turn water and power back on. Flush the system (run-off some water) to clear any air, then you’re ready to use your tap again.

Water flow may become slower (clogged filter).
Limescale or mineral deposits can build up in the boiler — risking damage, reduced performance or even failure.
